Get involved: The Open Stage Event Series
We are a no budget, non-profit, voluntary operation on the mission to provide a monthly open stage for electronic music LIVE (!) performances in ever changing venues of the city. It’s called: Electronic Music Open Mic!
All levels and all styles are welcome. We have no genre limits: You do experimental, ambient, noisy, wierd stuff? Bring it!

We also consider this project a platform to connect, network and meet likeminded people, find artistic collaborators, learn from and with each other, experience diy subculture and so on. Come say „Hi“.
2024: The Origin History
The project was originally founded mid 2024 by three fellow students, an event technician and an artist friend. Anton, Emmi, Friedrich, Tom and Paul.
Through a forum they found out coincidentally, that the event concept they had in mind was already in practice in the UK since 2017 under the term Electronic Music Open Mic, coined by Martin Christie in Manchester.
They chose to contact Martin, and learn all about the EMOM movement. It was then decided to also name the event in Frankfurt the same and therefor become part of a non-commercial, informal, global community network providing open stages for electronic music live performances on a regular basis.
They carried out their first pilot event in September 2024 at the Clubraum of Atelierfrankfurt. Eight artists followed the open call and performed that night. Jana Peil, Estimate Boum, Astrokill, Gene, Gregor Glogowski, Robots of the 80s, Era Geldes and S. Kärcher. The overall outcome was a great experience for everyone involved and the crew decided to attempt making this a regular thing in 2025.
2025: Establishing the Open Stage
After struggling to find a permanent home location for the open stage event series at the beginning of 2025 it was decided in March to do pop-up events, with the goal of a monthly rhythm, in whichever venue available at the time. In the meantime the team had shrunk to two people, Tom and Paul. The rest of the gang had already moved on to other projects and cities.
In the following 8 months 21 artists took the stage at 12 events in 10 different locations: Heussenstamm Galerie (Binary Blur Exhibition), Permakultur Schwanheimer Düne, Gusti Kulturkiosk, YokYok Citykiosk, Massif Naïv, Uferlos Beachclub/Artificial Family, Gusti#2, Klapper33, YokYok#2, Atelierfrankfurt (Open Studios), Gutviertel Café and the 1 Year Anniversary Clubnight at Silbergold.
Much much love again to everyone who supported us in one way or the other throughout 2025. MAK! We are forever grateful for all the wonderful moments you all gifted us.
